An evening on the town begins with a great meal in one of many fine Puerto Vallarta restaurants. You’ll be serenaded by Mariachi’s or other local musicians as you taste the cuisine of world-class chefs or find a hide-away and enjoy Mexican "home cooking." 

After your meal, relax with a drink on a romantic terrace by the sea or in the hills with a breathtaking view of city lights, boats on the bay and fireworks. Then it's time to move on to the real action of the evening. 

The center of nightlife is the downtown Malecón (boardwalk). Music, dancing and live entertainment in Puerto Vallarta restaurants and nightclubs really get going after 11 pm. No need to dress up, just go as you are (well, not in beachwear) to a restaurant-bar with your favorite kind of atmosphere. 

Among Puerto Vallarta restaurants and bars, you will find sports bars, rowdy bars, refined and relaxed piano bars and everything in between. Not everything happens at street level. Late night clubs can be found on the upper floors of Malecón buildings. The best way to judge them is to listen for the music you like and watch for the crowds of people overflowing onto the balconies!

Puerto Vallarta restaurants and bars offer a full array of entertainment. Discos and live music clubs offer rock 'n roll, Latin music, blues and jazz. At some of them, diehard dancers and late-starters are still kicking up their heels on the dance floor until five in the morning.

South of the Rio Cuale, in the Olas Altas - Los Muertos Beach area, is another gathering of all night discos, rock and jazz clubs, and a few more “tawdry” clubs. 

Outside the city, hidden away in the jungle or along secluded beaches, are luxurious restaurants and nightclubs that offer an evening’s entertainment, dinner, drinks, and dancing under the tropical stars. 

For the more laid-back traveler or those still nursing activities from the night before, or the day’s vacation activities, just strolling along the lively Malecon (boardwalk) is an exquisite way to enjoy a balmy evening. Everyone can go "cruising" on foot and do some serious people-watching while savoring the tastes of local snacks sold at stands along the way.
