Mazatlan Restaurants
Mazatlan restaurants provide a
wide gambit of experiences and cultural cuisines. The seafood is always fresh and the variety of
preparations makes it something you must experience more than once while in on vacation here.
Don't forget, Mazatlan is the shrimp capitol of the Pacific. Just go see what
The Shrimp Factory, (located in the golden zone, just across from the hotel 'Playa Mazatlan') has to
offer!
However many of the local restaurants serve great steaks, prime rib, Italian food, Oriental food and other cultural
cuisines. Many Mazatlan restaurants become the hub of Mazatlan nightlife. Check out the night life here!
You will find great eating all over Mazatlan. Many wonderful restaurants are located in the
Golden Zone or along the Malecón (boardwalk). However, 'old town' provides some dining not to be missed. In
particular Machado Plaza. Don't miss Pedro y Lola's!
Mazatlan also gladly disproves and old conception of "hotel food". Some of the best dining comes
from Mazatlan restaurants in hotel/resorts. Be aware that looks can be deceiving. Some of the cities' dining
delights come from some establishments off the beaten path. Take a close look, check out the menu, ask some of
the customers, and then decide for yourself.
Mainstream Mazatlan restaurants serve purified water, purified ice, and their salads are
safe to eat. If you get sick after an over indulgence in happy hour, blame the tequila and not the ice!
Mexican tradition is to never bring the bill unless it is asked for. They would never want
to insult you by implying that it is time for you to leave. You will need to ask for ‘la cuenta’ (the
check).
Señor Frogs
Señor Frogs is one of the tourist ‘theme’ Mazatlan restaurants. People can get
very crazy here. Just go inside and check out all of the people who have written their names on the ceiling.
The music is so loud that you have to shout at the person sitting next to you.
The Margaritas will cross your eyes in no time but the food is surprisingly good too.
Turns out there is a pool above the bar at Señor Frogs, which
presents some pretty interesting views! HA!
Pedro y Lola
Located in old town on Machado Square. Fine dining and live
entertainment. The food is excellent. A stroll around the plaza in the evening is the perfect way to top off
a fine dinner! A top pick for Mazatlan Restaurants!
Nothing like a great dinner with good
friends!
The Guadalajara Grill
This is a milder version of Señor Frogs. The music is quieter,
and on weekend evenings there is usually a live Mariachi band. The restaurant is right in the middle
of the Golden Zone. As with most Mazatlan restaurants, just tell the cab driver where you want to go
and they'll get you there. The Margaritas are good, the waiters friendly. The menu is quite extensive, with
everything from seafood, beef, pork, to chicken and salads.
Panama Bakery
The Panama Bakery is located on the main avenue, just across
from the Las Palmas hotel. All of the breads and pastries are baked here, and are excellent. In
addition to a bakery, they also have an extensive lunch and dinner menu. You won’t be disappointed
with the food or if you choose some pastries from the bakery to take back with you!
Costa de Oro
Not only is this one of our favorite Mazatlan resorts to stay
at, it has one of our favorite beach restaurants. Get a table along the railing, the sand is literally
beneath your feet, about 6 or 7 feet below you.
Mr. Ace

Find steak, seafood and poultry specialties in a charming
atmosphere with subdued lighting and a quiet piano bar, providing a relaxed atmosphere.
The food is great! Located on a side street, directly across from the Inn at Mazatlan.
The Papagayo
As above, with the Costa de Oro, one of our favorite places to
stay. The Papagayo is located at the Inn at Mazatlan, one of the oldest and nicest timeshare resorts
in the Golden Zone. This Mazatlan restaurant is both indoors and outdoors, with great views of the ocean. The
food is good, as is the service.
Coco’s
One of those hole-in-the-wall Mazatlan restaurants that won’t disappoint. It is
located just to the south of the Costa del Oro on the main street. Excellent breakfasts. My favorite is their
version of chilequiles, which is what I always order here. A traditional Mexican dish, they are small pieces
of tortilla cooked in a red or green sauce with a cheese topping, with or without chicken. Other entrées are
just as good. Be sure to bid a friendly hello to the parrot!
La Costa Marinara
This is one of those Mazatlan restaurants that doesn't receive a lot of press, but
we recommend you give it a try. Located right on the beach towards the northern part of the Golden Zone
it is a couple of hundred feet off of the main street on the beach side. Good food, friendly service, great
margaritas.
The picture above is from inside La Costa
Marinara, looking south down the Golden Zone. You can see the tall El Cid towers, The Inn at Mazatlan an the
golden Costa del Oro.
Try one of the sampler platters, it will serve two. You can walk out the back and
sit at a table right on the sand. Not on a patio or terrace, on the sand. We had to pick up our feet
once to avoid getting wet from a larger than usual wave (the tide was coming in I guess). They moved our table
back a little for us.
The picture to the left is of the
sunset from our table the evening we ate on the beach.
