Freshwater Fishing at Lake El Salto

El Salto Lake is located on foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains, just 90 minutes north of Mazatlan, on paved roads.

El Salto Lake was loaded around 15 years ago with Largemouth Florida Bass, but because of the warm temperature of the water, it turned in to a very big and aggressive BASS and has provided Mazatlan Mexico fishing with an entirely different option than saltwater sportfishing.

Most fishing guides are natives from the small towns around the lake, so they know the spots for the best fishing.

There is a Villa Resort named La Papalota, just 5 minutes away from the lake, where you can stay when fishing for more than a day. A while back, the ranch was converted to a fishing lodge, with all the necessary amenities to make your Mazatlan Mexico fishing expedition, comfortable.
