About a half hour south of Playa Del Carmen, the area offers a host of adventures amid natural beauty.  Winding, unpaved roads lead to tranquil seaside communities nestled around Akumal bay, Half-Moon Bay and Jade Beach.  Mile after mile of glorious beach dotted with shady Palapas hugs the aquamarine sea.

Snorkelers will delight in the emerald waters and multicolor marine life at picturesque Yal-Ku Lagoon within Akumal Playa.  Surrounding mangrove thickets shelter birds and sea creatures.  Nature lovers can arrange birdwatching trips and bike rides through the jungle at Akumal ecological Center.

Spectacular cenotes and underground river's leading to a labyrinth caverns and subterranean caves with depths of up to 150 m will captivate divers.  Certified cave and cavern divers can arrange trips through licensed operators including Aquatech at Villas DeRosa and Akumal dive Center.  Prices are reasonable for introduction and advanced dive courses and certification.

Sport fishing trips offer a more waterborne adventure.  Anglers will find an abundance of reef and the game fish boats and guides are plentiful and offer full and half a charter's.  It pays to shop around for the best deal.
